I’m a stay-at-home mom who recently left the corporate world to focus on my family and pursue my passion as a home decorator.
Like most home enthusiasts, elevated neutrals started because I felt like I had finally mastered my design style and I wanted to share home inspiration with anyone struggling to find theirs. Growing up I’ve always been interested in art until I was told my artistic abilities would never amount to monetary success and I should focus on other things.
So I did what most people do and I went into business and tried for years to climb the corporate ladder. In 2018 we purchased our modest 1,950 sq ft Victorian Farmhouse that was built in the year 1900. We fell in love with her potential, (and her reasonable price tag).
Little did I know, that purchasing this home would re-activate my creative side that had been dormant for so many years.

A tight budget will keep you from making all your dreams come true right away, but during that time I was browsing Pinterest collecting and studying the beautiful homes that would later inspire me to turn my current home into my dream home.
You see, I’ve never needed to own a mansion on a lake with a kitchen the size of Texas and ceilings as tall as the Eiffel Tower to be happy… (although if given the opportunity who would pass that up?)
But that’s not my reality, from the start I’ve always told my husband… “all I want is a home we can afford and the ability to make it our own.”
So now we're living the dream that's still within our means.
I have always been someone who likes to add their own twist to any idea and design is no different. After all, who wants their house looking exactly like everyone else’s?
Now that I’m living in an old farmhouse it’s only right that I honor the original design of the house, right?
Typically, farmhouse design has a lot of distressed rustic elements, lots of bright whites balanced with wood tones… and lots and lots of antiques!
I tend to lean away from an all white interior (just personal preference) and although I LOVE thrifting and antiques… my distain for dusting prevents me from collecting too much stuff.
I’ve always been a huge fan of a neutral aesthetic though… it makes everything feel so warm and inviting. I’ve realized I love to combine & balance complete opposite aspects of design. Such as neutral & moody tones and modern & vintage elements.
All in all I believe my style still represents the aura of farmhouse design, but it is still so clearly ME.
When I was trying to come up with an Instagram handle I knew I wanted it reflect my design style. It needed to sound classy and sophisticated, but to the point. That’s how elevated neutrals came to life.
What I love most about the online community is the overall appreciation for good design. You don’t have to share the same design style to respect someone else’s creativity and self expression.
